US star Mark Wilson had to wait until Monday to claim the Honda Classic, after a four-way play-off at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The conclusion of the play-off had to be delayed until Monday due to fading light on Sunday evening, with Colombia's Camilo Villegas, American Boo Weekley and Argentine Jose Coceres locked together with Wilson on five-under after 72 holes.
Villegas and Weekley bogeyed the second play-off hole on Monday and were eliminated from the competition and two holes later Wilson took the title with a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-three 17th.
Coceres lost in a play-off to Fred Funk at the Mayakoba Classic in Mexico last week, and he suffered further heartache as his putt lipped-out on the 17th to end any hope of securing the title.
The Tour now moves onto Tampa, Florida for the PODS Championship but, once again the big guns are missing.
Tiger Woods, who has hardly featured this season and Phil Mickelson, who looked to be right at the top of his game in early tournaments this term, will not feature, and their absence will further infuriate PGA officials who feel that a number of their tournaments are being undermined by players picking and choosing when to play.
South African Trevor Immelman will be in the line-up however, and look out for the talented youngster to be near the top of the Betfair market when betting opens on the next tournament stateside.
