Vijay Singh feels this year's US Open test will only get tougher for the players as the week goes on and expects some high scoring.
The Fijian finished day one in a group of 16 players on one-over-par following a satisfactory first round 71 - three shots behind leader Nick Dougherty.
Singh believes the Oakmont course, ranked as the second toughest on the PGA Tour, will only get harder as the tournament progresses.
The world number seven insisted: "It's going to be a tough week. We got some rain overnight and that softened the greens quite a bit. You could tell the difference playing today (Thursday) than yesterday.
"It wasn't easy by any means. You have to still hit the fairways and you have to hit the greens. I think the pin placements - the tough ones are still out there. So we are in for a long week."
Betfair punters share Singh's belief about the likely high scoring, with '285 or higher' the 1.84 favourite in the 'Winning Score' market.
'281 - 284' is available to back at 2.98, while level par or better (280 or lower) is currently trading at 7.
