Sweden's Henrik Stenson won the Dubai Desert Classic by one shot after a thrilling fourth round in which he carded a four-under-par 68.
The 30-year-old's 19-under for the tournament was enough to see him go past overnight leader Ernie Els and the South African had to settle for second place on -18.
World number one Tiger Woods could not mount a final round surge up the leaderboard and had to settle for joint-third with Niclas Fasth on one shot further back after their respective rounds of 69 and 68.
Englishman Ross Fisher, who led the field in the opening two rounds at the Emirates Golf Club, carded a final round of 71 to earn him fifth place on 16 under.
Following his victory, Dubai-based Stenson said: "I fought hard all week and to beat Ernie by one shot feels awesome.
"I hit a pretty good approach at the last and I could not have left myself a better putt than that one.
"Living down here in Dubai and having my friends and family with me this week is something special."
Stenson is expected to have a big season and is currently available at 7.2 to win the European Order of Merit. Ernie Els remains 4.7 favourite.
