American left-hander Phil Mickelson is confident he will be fully fit to take part in next week's US Open.
The American world number two is currently recovering from a wrist injury and has pulled out of this week's St Jude Championship in Memphis in order to give himself the best possible chance of being fighting fit for the Oakmont major.
"The timing isn't the best because I wanted to play at Memphis," he said. "But the good news is there is no break or fracture. I have inflammation that can be relieved and I'm looking forward to playing the Open at 100%."
Mickelson has been having cortisone injections to get him right after having to withdraw from last week's Memorial tournament in Ohio, 11 holes into his opening round.
The left-hander says he is fully focused on his attempt to win a fourth Major and his first US Open title, and despite missing out on the St Jude Championship he thinks he is in good touch this season after wins at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and the Players Championship.
Mickelson is trading at 13 to win the tournament with fellow American Tiger Woods favourite at 4.2, while Masters winner Zach Johnson is available at 50.
Despite Mickelson's absence this week, the field in Memphis still includes six of the top 12 players in the world - Vijay Singh (10.5), Adam Scott (14), Geoff Ogilvy (24), Padraig Harrington (21), Retief Goosen (30) and Sergio Garcia (20).
