Adam Scott believes his second-round 62 at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio included some of the best golf of his life.

The Australian, matched to small stakes at 100, is now the 2.96 favourite to claim the trophy on Sunday, after a scintillating 10-under par second round at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

After carding a two-under par 70 on day one, the 26-year-old moved to the top of the leaderboard following his second round, and sits one shot clear of fellow Aussie Rod Pampling, who shot 68, and is available at 7.4 to win the title.

Scott is rated as one of the brightest talents in world golf and he feels that Friday's round was one of the best he has put together in his career to date.

"That's probably the best ball-striking round I can remember," he said. "My ball-striking and distance control and everything was pretty much spot on, with the exception of the tee shot on 16 (his only bogey)."

Another Australia, Aaron Baddeley (10 to win the tournament), shot 68 to add to his first-round 66 and he sits on 10-under, along with American Bubba Watson (14.5).

Pre-tournament favourite Tiger Woods is 10 shots behind Scott on -2 after Friday's even-par 72, and the world number one was in no doubt as to the problem with his game in the opening two rounds.

"I'm just not rolling the ball the way I want," he said. "These greens are so perfect. If you
put a putt on line it should go in.

"I'm just not rolling the ball on line consistently. I have to make more putts, simple as that."

Woods can now be backed at 46, while Sean O'Hair (10) and Ryan Moore (29) sit just three shots off the pace on nine-under after 36 holes.
