The defending champion at the Indonesia Open, Simon Dyson, could not believe he finished with a one-under-par 70 in his opening round at this year's tournament.
It leaves the Englishman five shots off the pace but he feels his first-round display should have put him much more in touch with the leaders.
"I played miles better than one under," said the 29-year-old from York. "I birdied two of my first three holes and then lipped out at the next two. It was disappointing really as I played lovely. It's a course where sometimes you don't get your rewards."
Despite his five-shot deficit, Dyson still finds himself as the joint favourite in Betfair's win market at 9.8 along with Indian Shiv Kapur, who is on four under par and two shots behind leader Chawalit Plaphol (11).
Plaphol of Thailand managed an impressive six birdies in what was a flawless round and he has a single shot advantage over Finland's Mikko Ilonen (13.5).
Denmark's Mads Vibe-Hastrup (55) along with Kapur are a shot further behind.
However, 36 players are still to finish their opening rounds after play had to be suspended due to heavy rain and lightning.
Korea's Park Jun-woon was in a decent position being four under par through 12 holes when play was brought to a halt.
