Luke Donald leads the field by one shot at the midway stage of the Byron Nelson Championship in Texas.
The Englishman built on his opening day 67 with a second round 66 to leave him on -7, one shot ahead of three players - defending champion Brett Wetterich, Sweden's Freddie Jacobson and first round leader Sean O'Hair.
American duo Kent Jones and Scott Verplank are a further shot off the pace on -5 while world number seven Vijay Singh is among a group of players on four-under-par.
Donald finished in the top ten at the same event last year and he rates the tournament among his favourites.
The 28-year-old said: "Coming into this week, I felt good about my game and was really swinging well. This really sets me up well for the weekend.
"I suppose it's a course I just enjoy. You don't have to overpower it, you don't have to be ultra-long to be successful. It's more about placing it.
"I have good thoughts and good feelings about this place when I play here, and it shows."
With 36 holes still to go, Donald is trading as the 4.4 favourite to lift the trophy with Singh on offer at 8.6 and Wetterich trading at 9.
O'Hair is on offer at 9.8, while Jacobson is not fancied to continue his challenge and can be backed at 19.5.
