New Zealand star Michael Campbell has vowed to make the tee at next week's WGC-Accenture Match Play event despite a neck injury.
The 37-year-old has to withdraw from the Malaysian Open after three rounds and he will now rest ahead of the tournament in Tuscon.
The 2005 US Open winner injured himself in the gym doing some headstand exercises but the problem is only muscular and there will be no permanent damage to the talented right-hander's neck.
Campbell admitted that having a week's rest was exactly what he needed ahead of his expected first-round clash with England's Justin Rose.
"It allows me to compete in next week's matchplay in Tucson as I was worried I might miss out," he said.
"I was always having a week off so it's worked out well as I can give my neck the rest it needs. I won't be practicing this week."
The World Match Play starts on February 21 at Dove Mountain and is the first of this season's lucrative WGC events.
Tiger Woods heads the field and will doubtless be favourite when the Betfair market opens up and he is likely to face Brett Quigley or JJ Henry in his opening encounter in the desert.
