New US Open champion Angel Cabrera has revealed he will play in next week's Smurfit Kappa European Open at Dublin's K Club.
The 37-year-old became the first Argentinian to win the US Open when he pipped Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk to the title at Oakmont Country Club, and he has opted to play the Irish event, with the Open Championship looming.
The South American can be backed at 46 to win at Carnoustie and 5.5 to finish in the top 10 at the Scottish course but watch out for the big-hitting star at the venue for the 2006 Ryder Cup next week.
Cabrera has finished in the top 10 six times in his 11 appearances at the K Club and is likely to be among the favourites when the market opens for the European Open - one of his favourite places to play.
He said: "I have always enjoyed playing in Ireland, where the fans are both appreciative and knowledgeable.
"There's a great atmosphere about The K Club and I've done well there in the past and look forward to getting another chance to win one of the leading titles on The European Tour."
The Cordoba-born star trades at 17 to win the European Order of Merit this season, having been matched to small stakes at 130, with Henrik Stenson the 2.28 favourite and Paul Casey, who has recently spit with his caddie, on offer at 9.8.
South Africans Ernie Els and Retief Goosen are available at 15.5 and 11.5 respectively to head the European table at the end of the season.
