I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in the betting industry since leaving college. I grew up going racing with my late father who was an avid racing fan and a punter himself. I used to tag along with him to the races at the weekend and have particularly fond memories of the Phoenix Park. Other kids were busy playing in the playground whilst I was trying to sort out my placepot; I still am actually!
I joined Betfair in September 2003 and have worked here ever since in the Marketing and Communications Departments. I must say and I've really enjoyed my time here - they're an exciting company to work for. In terms of my own betting, the main sport I take an interest in is Irish/UK racing but I will also bet on Soccer, Darts, Rugby and Golf if I have a strong view.
I think that specialisation on Betfair is the key to long-term betting success and almost every successful punter I know would bet seriously on no more than a couple of sports.
