Two winners, two very different prices
Woods - high of 3.05 - and Rumford - high of 290 - are the week's victors
There were two very different betting tales in this weekend's big golfing tournaments on either side of the Atlantic.
While Aussie Brett Rumford chipped his way round Crans-Sur-Sierre towards a third European Tour win, Tiger Woods was at his brilliant best to make it 60 victories in total for one of the most celebrated golfers of all time.
The world number one is a betting phenomenon in the sport, rarely starting a tournament at longer than 3.5 (5-2). Plenty of layers are happy to indulge at that price but plenty get burnt when Woods scorches through the field to claim yet another victory.
In a small, yet high-quality field Tiger never got above 3.05 (2-1) in the betting when always contending for victory at the BMW Championship - a tournament he won with a closing 63 to edge out Aaron Baddeley and Steve Stricker.
Stricker has been in tremendous form throughout the FedEx Cup series and traded at a low of 2.4.
Rumford meanwhile was the consumate three-figure winner. Although twice victorious before on the European Tour, the veteran Australian had been out of sorts this year displaying a complete lack of form. Yet, somehow, somewhere, he found it again to beat Phillip Archer in a play-off returning huge payouts for punters who took him at a high of 290.
Englishman Archer and defending champion Bradley Dredge were matched at lows of 1.58 and 1.6 as they looked bound for victory.
