Garth Mulroy became the latest player on the European Tour to throw away a winning position on the 18th hole.
Needing a birdie on a very reachable par 5 to win the Johannesburg Open and a par to force a play-off, the South African traded at a low of [1.15]. He made par and was forced to be one of three players in a sudden-death playoff.
Richard Sterne, matched at a high of [48.0], was the player who kept his cool to make birdie on the second play-off hole and Mulroy missed his own birdie chance to enforce a third hole. Magnus Carlsson, the third man in the playoff traded at a low of [2.02].
