Arabian Gulf has met with a setback and misses the Vodafone Derby on Saturday, reducing the field to 18 runners.
Connections of the Khalid Abdullah-owned colt may now regret the decision not to pay the £75,000 supplementary entry fee this week for Raincoat, who carries the same colours as Arabian Gulf.
Raincoat, who chased home Derby favourite Authorized in the Dante Stakes at York, could have been added to the Classic field last weekend but he runs instead in the French Derby on Sunday.
The infection in one of Arabian Gulf joints, has left Sir Michael Stoute without a Derby runner, with his great rival Aidan O'Brien having eight in the Epsom line-up.
The Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained Authorized remains the hot favourite in the Betfair ante-post market at 2.
