Now, why would Croatia be playing a friendly with Qatar? It can't be for the same reasons that Eastern European weightlifters and sub-Saharan Africans represent the oil- and gas-rich nation. A football association wouldn't be so mercenary, not with a crucial game against Kazakhstan coming up. Maybe all oil- and gas-rich nations play the same way.
