Striker concerns for Scotland

Kenny Miller is a major injury doubt for Scotland ahead of their Euro 2008 qualifier against the Faroe Islands on June 6.

The Celtic striker picked up a hamstring injury while heading towards goal in his club's Scottish Cup final success over Dunfermline on Saturday.

The former Wolves and Rangers frontman has been one of Scotland's most potent goal threats in recent years and his absence will be a blow, especially for a game in which they will have targeted goals.

Miller revealed: "As soon as I stretched for a header I felt it (the hamstring) go.

"The way it feels right now, I think it would take a miracle to make the Faroes game."

Scotland boss Alex McLeish faces losing his second main striker for the crucial Group B qualifying match having already lost his current top scorer James McFadden.

Despite their good start to their qualifying campaign, Scotland are not fancied to qualify for Euro 2008. They are currently on offer at 5.2 to finish in the top two in their group - France are available at 1.18, Italy can be backed at 1.29 while Ukraine are trading at 2.6.

McLeish continues his preparations for the qualifying tie this week, with the Scots facing an away friendly against Austria on Wednesday.

Betfair punters are anticipating a home win in Vienna, with Austria the 2.14 favourites. Scotland can be backed at 3.2 with the draw available at 3.25.
