Pablo Luna - Moonlighting for Betfair. As Chelsea and English football await the arrival of Scolari, Pablo wonders whether the Premiership will ever be the same again.

I am astonished with the appointment of Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari as the new manager of Chelsea. He is the one man in world football who is bigger than oligarch Roman Abramovich. He is very independent and hates intervention and he demands respect and freedom. His authority will not be questioned by anybody, including Abramovich!

History and millions of pounds will prove that Abramovich already had the best coach and foolishly interfered with what Jose Mourinho was building. While you appreciate the Russian's business acumen, his football knowledge is comparable to a schoolboy with a train set or should that be a toy gun?

Fabio Capello recommended Scolari to Abramovich on the night of the Champions League Final. The 59-year old will begin his role as Chelsea manager on 1 July 2008 after the completion of Euro 2008. He will make the Premiership more exciting. I am eagerly awaiting his arrival but confess for the wrong reasons. I want to see the car crash! Some say he will bring a breath of fresh air to our league, I think more a stick of dynamite!

Controversial Scolari will be in trouble with the FA in his first month. His bad temper and histrionics while the match is going on will keep Soho Square busy and bring in some extra revenue. He is famous for his bizarre ranting and double talk. His foul swearing and spitting on the touchline will not endear him to certain fraternities either. I wonder what the FA would have made of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hezzTGkloJY

Next season's title race will be the most acrimonious ever and it will require strong policing. My advice is to come down early on Scolari but knowing the lily-livered structure at the FA that will not happen - more entertainment for us. I am not sure whether the general public will tolerate his antics but he will divide opinion.

The build up to a war of words with Ferguson has already started. Scolari, instigator in chief, has publicly and privately told Ronaldo to take the opportunity of a lifetime and go to Real Madrid. At the same time he offers the player a safety net at Chelsea. Queiroz and Scolari already despise each other after club versus country rows. The rivalry will be real and intense. Not being a supporter of either team I will relish it. It is a sport in itself!

This devoutly religious man who leads prayer circles is a paradox. He allegedly admires Chile's murderous dictator Augusto Pinochet yet despises gays. He is a tabloid dream. He once punched a journalist and his dislike of the British media is well known. He can expect maximum intrusion. He complained that there were 20 reporters outside his house when being considered for the England job and said "This is not part of my life and never will be". If he thinks it's all over, it isn't now...

On football matters Scolari has never managed a club in Europe yet alone a big one. This is his 20th assignment in his managerial career but it is seven years since he last managed a club. His record at the highest level is beyond reproach, winning the World Cup with Brazil and twice taking Portugal to the last four of leading championships. He has twice won the South American equivalent of the European Cup, the Copa Libertadores, first with Gremio and then with Palmeiras.

There is nothing more demanding than managing a Brazil team that is always expected to win and he showed great strength in 2002 when he withstood enormous public pressure to include Romario in his World Cup squad. How he copes on a day to day basis with Chelsea's extravagantly rewarded footballers and their egos remain to be seen.

He cares nothing for reputations. He will kick bums and I am not sure whether Abramovich will be able to wander into the dressing room when he likes despite paying him £6.25m per year. In the past he has booted meddlesome interlopers out! I would pay good money to see that!

He has been given a treasure chest of £108m and Deco, Kaka, Villa and Eto are on his shopping list. Will there be a Portuguese influx in July? Who will go? Latest prices with Betfair show: Manchester United [2.54] Chelsea are [3.2] Arsenal [6.6] Liverpool [9] to win the Premiership next season. The United and Chelsea prices seem a bit short to me and offer an early laying opportunity. There are bound to be teething problems for Chelsea.

Chelsea will play 4-2-3-1 but forget samba, at least initially. I sense he will let Lampard leave and free up his options in midfield, he is not his type of player. His first priority has always been to stop the opposition playing and he has publicly approved and encouraged fouling saying that it is part of the game. He will time waste and cheat outright to win a game! Apart from rustiness his one weakness in English football would be his obsession with zonal marking from set pieces. It simply does not work in this country (see Benitez) and I will never understand the mentality or the mechanics of it.
