Portsmouth were responsible for causing one of the biggest upsets of the Premiership season so far after being matched at odds of 95 on Betfair to beat Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park this afternoon...

It was the scoreline rather than the win in itself that was surprising, Everton having already been humbled at home by Blackburn on the first day of the season, and Pompey only ever touched 4.9 on the match odds market. There was however a better payout at 8.6 for backers who got on Redknapp's men to be leading at half-time and winning at full-time.

You would have seen two goals more than at Goodison Park had you been at the KC Stadium this afternoon as Wigan put five past a hapless Hull City. Wigan were backed at a high of 4.2 on the match odds market and 5 goals or more was backed at odds of 11. The performance by Steve Bruce's men has seen their odds drift to 7.4 from a low of 3.95 on the relegation market whilst today's hammering has meant Betfair customers have now installed Hull City as the favourites for Premiership relegation at 1.3.

The second favourites for relegation at 1.33 - Stoke City - were unlucky to get nothing from their trip to Middlesbrough, who had drifted to 3.55 before grabbing a winner just five minutes from time. The even money third favourites for the drop, West Brom, grabbed a good point at Bolton after the draw was matched at 3.7 and the 0-0 scoreline touched 12.5.

There was a third "hammering" of the afternoon at Upton Park as West Ham put four past Blackburn. The 4-1 scoreline is however a slightly misleading one given that West Ham's last two goals both came in injury time. Bad news for Paul Robinson's stats, good news for those who backed "any unquoted" on the Betfair correct score market at 75.
