Even without considering Spurs' poor record at Stamford Bridge, everything points to a home win, says Richard Walker.
Not normally one to recite or recall statistics or trends, I'm not going to yield now; but do have a glance through the figures associated with meetings between these two sides - they're too poignant to ignore.
And while those wonderful factoids provide a perfectly reasonable base for a Chelsea-biased course of action, it's for much simpler - and stark - motives that I'm going to kow-tow to a touch of 'Big Four'-itis and plump for Luiz Felipe Scolari's moustache to be once again be bristling and bulging on top of a smile.
Chelsea have started the season in the kind of irresistible and ruthless way fans of the Blues will be hoping they end it eight months' time. And why, exactly, are they going to stop against a Spurs side on the edge of disarray? Well surely they're not...
Robbie Keane gone, Dimitar Berbatov either going, gone or not interested, Darren Bent not really up to it, Giovani dos Santos only just about a striker, Roman Pavlyuchenko not having set foot in the UK yet (expected to sign pre-weekend), Tottenham are hardly brimming with goals. Poor old David Bentley out there on the wing - I wonder whether this is what he was expecting?
There's no such worries along the Kings Road. Big Phil has cleverly and quietly reduced the spin and hyperbole coming out of Stamford Bridge to virtually nought. I suspect the biggest worry they'll have this weekend is what day before Sunday night the Brazilian wizard Robinho puts pen to paper on a mega-money move from Real Madrid.
Like your Sunday lunchtime custard, pour yourself a bit of the [2.1] to back about a Chelsea/Chelsea Half Time/Full Time scenario, or, if you like things a little firmer, grab a slice of the [1.9] on offer to back Over 2.5 goals in that market. Get as thick as proper custard with these two and all will taste sweet at about half-past three.
The Match Odds market is always worth noting. Tottenham are about a [10.0] chance to back and a fraction more to lay if your bank's as strong as your opinion. The Draw is [4.7] while Chelsea are around [1.43] to secure an expected success.
Very few will be expecting anything except a continuation of Chelsea's excellent start to the campaign, which makes just over evens on Chelsea/Chelsea about them getting ahead and staying ahead - like they've done in both games thus far - my back of this weekend. Good luck!
