Five-nil Blackburn battering sends the Blues to the top of the league

Chelsea roared back to the top of the Premier League with a 5-0 humbling of Blackburn Rover today.

The win seals the Blues' place at the head of the title betting where they trade as the [2.68] favourites from [3.4] Manchester United, who face Liverpool on Sunday.

Spurs could have gone top, at least until the end of the Chelsea game, but blew their chance at home to Stoke.

The Potters grabbed an 86th minute goal - the only one of the game - after Tottenham had been reduced to 10 men following an injury to Aaron Lennon with all substitutes already on the pitch.

Spurs had been backed at [1.41] in early trading while Stoke touched [21.0] in-running.

Like Spurs, Aston Villa also have aspirations of breaking the top four but were denied by near rivals Wolves.

After taking a late lead, Villa touched [1.15] for the win but were pegged back by Mick McCarthy's men. The draw was backed at [8.0].

Sunderland's recent good run was brought to an end at Birmingham, who ran out 2-1 winners. At the KC Stadium, relegation rivals Hull and Portsmouth couldn't be separated, drawing 0-0 while Burnley's unbeaten home record came to an end at the hands of Wigan.
