Blades don't cut it with Gravesen

Sheffield United have received yet another blow with confirmation from Celtic midfielder Thomas Gravesen that he will not be joining them.

Bramall Lane boss Bryan Robson admitted on Wednesday that he would be interested in signing the 31-year-old former Real Madrid man.

But player's agent, former Denmark star John Sivebaek, revealed Gravesen is desperate to prove himself in Scotland with the champions after a disappointing first season.

Sivebaek told the Daily Mail: "Thomas wants to stay and show everybody is wrong about him.
"He has decided to fight for his place in the team. Thomas loves living in Scotland, he likes the club and fans."

The news comes just two days after the Blades, who are available to back at 11 on Betfair's Championship outright winner market, lost their legal challenge to be reinstated to the Premier League over the Carlos Tevez affair.

Gravesen faces stiff competition to establish himself in Gordon Strachan's engine room following the close-season arrivals of Scott Brown and Massimo Donati.

But they have accepted the player's willingness to fight for his future at Parkhead.
"Celtic have indicated they will accept that," said Sivebaek. "It is hard to imagine Thomas in Sheffield and he has decided to stay."

Strachan, with his squad in Switzerland ahead of Thursday's friendly against Berne, added: "People can talk but I'm happy with my squad. Players will only move on if they really want to."
