I’m Mandeep Dhanoa and I work at Betfair, mostly on our tennis markets.

I got into betting because I figured I knew my favourites sports more than most, and had an ability to predict results pretty well. I also believed I had a deep understanding of those sports, and the factors that affected them. So I believed I could give a good assessment of what represented value.

My first-ever bet was backing the Leicester Tigers to win the 2001 Heineken Cup Final. It was a great game, and my bet came through (although it was pretty close in the end).

My favourite sports are cricket, football, rugby union, tennis in that order and my sporting idol is the “Little Master” Sachin Tendulkar.

There is no one single golden rule to betting but always remember this: there is always another match, so try not to go all in on one event!
