…that if the opening goal is scored inside 15 minutes, lay the team that concedes it. In the last 16 years, no team that has fallen behind so early has gone on to win in 90 minutes.

…that if there is an opening goal inside 15 minutes, lay 1-0 as a Correct Score. Never in the last 16 years has the Community Shield finished 1-0 if the first goal has come inside 15 minutes. Indeed, if the first goal is scored at any time in the first half, lay 1-0 as a Correct Score – it hasn't stayed that way in the last 16 years.

...that if the first goal comes between 16-30 minutes, lay the draw and 1-0 as Correct Scores. In the four games when the first goal has been scored between these times since 1992, the team scoring first has won them all, by at least 2-0.

… that if the score is 0-0 at half time, then bet on there being goals, but fewer than 2.5 of them. On the four occasions it has been scoreless at the break since 1992, someone has scored in the second half, but there have never been more than two second half goals.

…that a 0-0 half time scoreline does not increase the chances of the game ending in a draw. In the 12 games with first half goals, three finished in draws (a 25% chance). In the four games with the first goal coming in the second half, there was one draw (a 25% chance). Lay 0-0 as a Correct Score.

…that the four games that have been scoreless at the break since 1992 have only ever finished 1-0 or 1-1, so back these as Correct Scores if there's no score at half time.

…that if a team scores the first goal of the game in the second half, lay their opponent. No team has come back to win in the last 16 years after conceding the first goal of the game after the break.
