Croats backed at [1.01] for six figures before Turkish come back from the dead

More than £140,000 was wagered on Croatia to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2008 at odds of [1.01] on Betfair last night before a dramatic last minute comeback by opponents Turkey.

With seconds to go Croatia appeared to have made it to the last four courtesy of an Ivan Klasnic headed 'decider'.

At that point Turkey were backed at an enormous [130.0] on the exchange to go through to the semis but a deflected Semih shot somehow found its way to the back of the net with the whistle poised between the referee's lips. The extra-time draw was also backed at [130.0] for £157.

Turkey then went on to take the ensuing penalty shootout as a host of Croatian players missed the target.

There are now a handful of Betfair customers sitting on bets at odds of [1000.0] for Turkey to win the competition. The Turkish face Germany next and are currently [14.0] to lift the trophy.
