"But one thing we all agree on is that Paul’s music is horrific. Elton John and Leona Lewis does not inspire eleven pumped up footballers as they are about to walk out on to the pitch and it never will."

The Notts County midfielder on Sven Goran Eriksson's assurances, bad musical tastes and dreaming of facing Nottingham Forest in a competitive match.

Hello to you all again and welcome to my column.

It has been a relatively quiet week in the life of a Notts County player since I last spoke to you. Or at least by our usual standards! Certainly more settled than last week following the departure of our manager, Ian McParland. There still has not been a new manager appointed, although the candidate list has been narrowed down from eighty to five.

Careteker managers Dave Kevan and Michael Johnson remain in charge at the moment while the club weigh up all of the potential applicants. The pair have done a fantastic job and we put on a great performance at Rotherham in our 0-0 draw which should have seen us take all three points. The Rotherham goalkeeper put on a masterclass of shot stopping and denied us all three points with a string of fine saves. I guess that some days it just wasn't meant to be.

Although there have been a lot of things going on at the club, the objective for the season stay the same. Automatic promotion is still what everyone at the club is striving for.

There has been some great news in the last couple of days with the takeover of the club being ratified. This, along with the news that Mr Eriksson has ruled himself out of the running for the Swedish job is great news and the club will now hopefully be out of the firing line of the press. For a few days at least!

There has not been a great deal of change in the approach to things since Ian Mcparland left and that includes the music in the dressing room. Our centre forward, Delroy Facey. is usually the DJ and in charge of what gets played before games. I don't mind Del's tunes but they do have to be turned down when the mascots come in to the changing rooms because there is a fair bit of "explicit language", shall we say, in the music. When we play away from home the iPod of physio Paul Goddfrey gets put on the docking station. None of the lads will put their iPods on because everyone has such different tastes in music that whatever you like will inevitably end up not being someone elses's cup of tea. At which point you'll hear about it. In pretty simple terms!

But one thing we all agree on is that Paul's music is horrific. Elton John and Leona Lewis does not inspire eleven pumped up footballers as they are about to walk out on to the pitch and it never will.

This weekend all eyes in the country amongst football fans will inevitably be on Liverpool v Man Utd . This is one of the most famous and heated derbies in the world. Local derbies are fantastic games to play in and are great games for the fans. Nottingham Forest is our local rival and I hope during my time at County I will be fortunate enough to play in one of these games. A couple of quick promotions and we'll be there! We played them in a pre-season game in the summer, won 2-1 and the occasion was fantastic. It would be great if we got to meet them in a competitive game.

As for the Liverpool v Man Utd game, I am going for Man Utd to be winning at half-time at [3.35] and Man Utd to win the match at [2.6].
