League One Betting: MK Dons are the best in the division

Fresh from his New World adventures, supersized lothario Lord Dudman of Leytonshire is back to bring you the meatiest League One bets. And what of the Psycho Killer at Swindon?

It's great to be back in the UK after my recent travels and I have learned two valuable lessons which will reap rewards in the future.

Firstly, the power of the London accent cannot be emphasised enough in the States. When a few Massachussets blondes (female not men) clocked the mother tongue, it was almost like I was Superman with an extra lump of Kryptonite. They think you sound like royalty....mind you, you'd have to be pretty thick to think I was from regent stock.

Glarssss instead of glass, Barrttth instead of Bath and so on.

Secondly, everything is supersized and huge. Sadly this didn't quite filter down to bless me but if it was XXXXL shirts and giant meaty subs you were after....well the US is for you. I will no longer pay £5.60 for a measley Chicken Ceasar wrap
in London.

Talking of supersized and meaty, a big thank you to Andy Richmond for his top work in last week's column.

Not only did he follow the protocol to include an aesthically pleasing picture ( although sadly I have to find another image, as I had Georgie pencilled in for February 24th 2009) he also found a couple of supersized wins with winning lays, a correct overs call and tipping up the Leyton Orient 1-1 scoreline at around [15.00].

Incidentally that is the third correct score in this column in the last three weeks, (including Histon's 1-0 versus Leeds), taking the profit in the last trio of columns to over 48 points to a one point level stake.

Brighton and Hove Albion [3.10] v MK Dons [2.44]

Note this game is the Friday night fixture.

Followers of this column know that I am a huge fan of Roberto Di Matteo's Dons. Not only does he play football the right way, but he is surely the most dignified of all managers. Premier League bosses should look and learn.

The former Chelsea man admitted his team were outplayed by a very decent Scunthorpe outfit last weekend, and although it put a slight dent in their promotion push, they will do what they always tend to do this season - and that is bounce back with a win after a defeat.

Prior to last Saturday they had notched six successive wins, scoring 14 goals in the process, and still remain one of the best teams in the division.

It was great to see his former Blues colleague Tore Andre-Flo make his debut last weekend when coming off the bench, and having impressed, could be pushing for a start this Friday night.

The MK Dons are still the best team in League One on their travels and I really fancy them to turn over Brighton at the Withdean.

A quick word on the Seagulls, who have been pretty poor this campaign and are without a win in five.

With the dangerous Adam Virgo suspended, backers of MK Dons will be very pleased. Micky Adams is also sweating on the fitness of 11-goal striker Glenn Murray, and hoping Leeds do not recall on-loan midfielder Brad Johnson.

Last weekend's 1-1 draw at Oldham was a turn for the better, but they have struggled to find the net at home so I will also have a go at a couple of scorelines.

Recommendations:

Back MK Dons [2.44]
Back correct scores 0-1, 0-2, 1-2

Crewe Alexandra [2.46] v Swindon Town [2.74]

I do like good sides in the Division, the likes of MK Dons, Scunthorpe, Posh and so forth. Crewe and Swindon however are not, simple as.

Both have no manager, with various names being linked to the two
vacant positions (including Robbie Savage to the Alex), but even that doesn't mask the fact that Crewe are abysmal.

Recent FA Cup wins against Ebbsfleet and Carlisle have done little to ease the mood of despair at Gresty Road. Last weekend's 1-0 defeat against Cheltenham was their nadir....Cheltenham created a ton of chances (and they never do that, ever!).

With nine points all season, the Railwaymen are in a hopeless position, and even caretaker boss Dario Gradi is struggling to work the magic that he has sprinkled so well there for over 25 years.

Swindon aren't much better, but at least are capable of scoring goals. Recent high-scoring draws to Bristol Rovers, Scunthorpe and Peteborough should be enough to see them home here.

The men from Wiltshire also have their own caretaker boss in the shape of David Byrne. Indeed, it was Byrne who brought about a refreshing new approach to management this week, calling internet forum posters who criticise the team as (and I quote): "morons,
donuts and s**t-stirrers
".

I think we should have some more of Byrne! I like him.

Anway, Swindon are dangerous with the 16-goal Simon Cox present, and also have a couple of useful kids in the shape of Callum Kennedy and Sean Morrison.

Recommendations:

Lay Crewe at [2.46]
Back correct scores 1-2, 2-3

Leyton Orient [1.80] v Cheltenham Town [4.30]

Finally this weekend, Orient will hopefully continue their cracking run of seven games without defeat.

O's boss Martin Ling described reports linking him with the Swindon job as 'pie in the sky' this week, and he'll be hoping his side maintain their focus which has seen them concede just two goals in seven games.

Cheltenham meanwhile are the worst travellers in the division, they can't score (seven goals in nine games) and they can't win (they've lost eight).

If you can get [1.90] on the Londoners, then Xmas has come early. Orient shouldn't lose this, but it maybe worth having a saver on the 0-0. As the home side aren't conceding, and the
away side can't score.

Recommendations:

Back Orient to win [1.80]
Back scorelines 0-0, 1-0, 2-0
