Against All Odds: AZ Alkmaar to find it tough away again

AZ Alkmaar travel to ADO Den Haag this evening in an Eredivisie clash over in Holland. The away side are odds-on but Paul Robinson thinks that they are far too short given the fact that they are without a win in four on the road.

ADO Den Haag are having a poor season by their standards and are down in 14th with 22 points from 19 matches. Their biggest weakness has been their form away from home as Maurice Steijn's men have picked up just seven points on their travels this year. At the Kyocera Stadion, ADO have lost only two of nine fixtures, and one of those was against top-of-the-table PSV. In fact, the green and yellows are unbeaten on their own turf in six and actually won four of those, including against the likes of Heracles, NEC and NAC Breda, who are all above them in the league. They certainly have an eye for goal to as they have scored 10 in the last four, so AZ will probably have to score two or three to pick up the three points tonight.

AZ Alkmaar are third in the division with 39 points from 19 matches played. After a fantastic start to their campaign, Gertjan Verbeek has seen his side hit a bit of a slump in recent weeks as they have recorded just one win in six and lost the last two out of three. Away from AFAS Stadion, The wonderfully named, Cheese Farmers have won only four times this season and have picked up just a single point from their last possible 12. The defeat at Heerenveen can be excused but the losses at NAC Breda and Roda JC were decidedly poor. In fact, the 0-0 draw at lowly Excelsior was possibly the worst result of the lot.

The two sides are separated by 11 places and 17 points, but ADO are strong at home and AZ are weak away. With that in mind, [1.79] about Alkmaar is far too short for my liking, so I have to make it my lay of the day.
