QPR host Ipswich Town in The Championship this afternoon, and while many people will be sticking this one down as a home banker, Paul Robinson isn't so sure...
Rangers have begun life in the second tier by taking four points from a possible six so far. They beat Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day but it has to be said that they were aided by a couple of somewhat questionable decisions from the officials and fortunate to win. Following that they beat League Two's Exeter City in the Capital One Cup, before drawing with Huddersfield last weekend back in the league.
Harry Redknapp will have been tasked with achieving promotion this term and if they are to succeed then they need to turn Loftus Road into a bit of a fortress. I have my doubts over the quality of their squad though - even more so since the manager has frozen a few out - and things won't be a breeze for them down at this level.
Ipswich lost their first game of the season at Reading but they did take the lead and were unlucky not to get anything from one of the promotion favourites. While they were knocked out of the Cup by Stevenage 11 days ago, Town bounced back to beat Millwall 3-0 at Portman Road last Saturday.
Mick McCarthy revamped his squad over the summer and even towards the end of last year, the Tractor Boys showed plenty of improvement under the former Wolves boss and became very tough to beat. A Play-off place is a real possibility this season and I think they could spring a few surprises - starting today.
It's generally a solid rule to oppose odds-on shots in this division and that is exactly what I'm doing here. Ipswich will make this a true test for QPR and I'm not overly convinced that they'll be up to it. That's why, with QPR trading around the 1.8910/11 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
