Low-scoring affair at Stamford Bridge has cost us dear

The "Total Goals Guys" take one gamble too many as the goals that were expected at Stamford Bridge and Bilbao dry up

Two matches let us down this weekend for the second week in a row and again both were undone by a solitary goal.

A Stamford Bridge fixture has once again cost us dearly. The price of [1.72] for 3 or more goals in the clash with Sunderland was too tempting compared to [1.23] for a duo and the blues couldn't build on their lead in the final quarter of an hour after Lampard made it 2-0 from the spot on 75'.

No such problems at Old Trafford however where Ryan Giggs' 100th Premier League goal 5 minutes before the interval sent United en route to a 4-1 victory over Derby. The Rams crumbled somewhat after the opener and Carlos Tevez capitalised right on half time and on the hour mark to seal the victory and also the 3 goal back at [1.51].

Reading took the wind out of Liverpool's sail on Saturday evening, notching a famous 3-1 home victory. Liverpool were flying and would no doubt have been heavily backed in the match odds for this one. It's the total goals market we are interested in however and especially our back of 2 goals or more at [1.35]. A dubious penalty decision led to Reading's opener through Hunt on 17' and Gerrard did brilliantly to find an equaliser that took care of business 2 minutes shy of the half hour mark.

Real Madrid's clash in Bilbao on Saturday evening was the other disappointment this weekend. The league leaders were involved in a rare low scoring encounter in the basque region. The 1-0 victory came thanks to a Van Nistelrooy strike on 54' but that was of little use to us considering our cash was on a back of 2 goals or more at [1.32]

Arsenal's defeat at Middlesboro was another shock result and arguably the shock of the Premier League so far this season. Boro were looking for their first win in almost a dozen games and with Arsenal dropping points at Newcastle in mid-week they were looking to get back on track in what on paper is one of the easier away ties on their fixture list. It wasn't to be and after just 4 minutes they were behind to a Stuart Downing penalty. When the league leaders go 1-0 down with 86 minutes to go and you are on 2 goals or more at [1.31] it's looking pretty good but we were made to sweat it out until 16 minutes from time when amazingly Tuncay made it two and sent Boro on their way to a famous 2-1 victory.

The balance has taken a blow arguably as hard as Ricky Hatton did on Sunday morning and currently sits at the lowly sum of £67.71 but like the Hitman we vow to carry on . . .
