The "Total Goals Guys" miss out this weekend and just hope they can finish the season in the black...

Our form is taking on a bit of a yo-yo effect in the closing weeks of the season. Two weeks ago the balance dropped 38% one week after a 19% increase. Last week saw a rise of 39% but this has been compounded by a weekend loss of 30%.

Things were going quite smoothly as of 5pm on Saturday. We opposed 4 goal backers in Reading's trip to the Emirates with a lay price of [2.99] and it was looking shaky with 3 goals or more hitting a low of [1.2] when Gilberto Silva made it 2-0 to The Gunners on 38 minutes. No further goals were to be scored however and it was a solid a start to the weekend.

It was all downhill from here however as next up was Manchester United's visit to Ewood Park. We fancied 3 goals or more in this one and in-play traders who initially backed 3 or more at [1.94] would have been delighted to have seen Roque Santa Cruz open the scoring after 21 minutes thus reducing the in-play price to [1.48]. With United chasing the championship 3 goal backers were in a good position but it would have been the traders smarting after this one as a late Carlos Tevez header could only salvage a 1-1 draw.

It was hoped that Barcelona and Espanyol could save our weekend. 3 goals or more in this one could have been the difference between a loss of £33.53 and a £7.67 gain but all the sides could muster was a 0-0 draw that all but ends Barca's hopes of winning a domestic trophy this season. Maybe we shouldn't have relied so much on two sides who were both so out of sorts. We applied a little of the "must win, will win" mentality to this particular one at the weekend and we certainly paid the price.

With 3 weeks of betting remaining in this experiment we will need to avoid such notions. A betting bank of £78.45 isn't what we envisaged at this stage back in August and at the very least we will be aiming to finish the season in the black.
