Latest transfer news - Leicester get busy
Leicester City are supposed to have plenty of money to spend at the moment, but it's been something of a disappointing summer for new boss Paulo Sousa who has struggled to bring in players. He's been thwarted again by an old club, but elsewhere things are looking pretty good for the former Portugal midfielder...
- Swansea City have rejected a bid from Leicester City for Welsh footballer of the year Ashley Williams. The Swans chairman Huw Jenkins said: "We have received a bid from Leicester City for Ashley Williams and have turned it down - the player is not for sale."
- However, Leicester are close to signing Martyn Waghorn from Sunderland in a deal worth a reported £2 million, and have just snapped up Japanese midfielder Yuki Abe from Urawa Red Diamonds.
- Plymouth Argyle have signed Guadeloupe-born defender Stephane Zubar on a monthly rolling contract and are awaiting international clearance for the French defender.
- Plymouth are also reported to have had a bid for Adam Le Fondre turned down by Rotherham.
- Lubomir Michalik has joined Carlisle United on loan from Leeds.
- Tranmere have made two loan signings, bringing in midfielder Jermaine Grandison from Coventry City and midfielder Arnaud Mendy from Derby County.
- Great headline potential, but when you scratch below the surface the fact that MK Dons have released Pele is not as exciting as it sounds. This is not the World Cup legend, but the 32-year-old Cape Verde international.
