Latest transfer news - Roberts to Wigan?

It wasn't their best star to a Premier League campaign - shipping ten goals in their opening two games - but things have picked up in recent days for Wigan. They recorded their first win of the season against Tottenham Hotspur, and now they could be bringing back a former favourite.

Jason Roberts endured a fairly miserable season last year - scoring only five goals in 31 games, and failing to secure a regular first-team spot.

However, everything looked set for the Grenadian international to head to Bloomfield Road and turn out in the Tangerine of Blackpool this season. But after failing to agree a deal, he looks as though the Latics could be interested in snapping him up.

Roberto Martinez is desperate to bring in another striker after offloading flop forward Jason Scotland to Ipswich. Roberts could certainly do a job for Wigan, but the deal may be scuppered if Martinez can bag young Chelsea striker Franco Di Santo.

The forward has allegedly been a target for the Latics all summer and reports now say he is in Wigan for talks.
