Latest transfer news - big West Ham news!

West Ham fans have grown used to Tottenham creeping up on them and nicking their transfer targets - approach one and mention the words Eidur Gudjohnsen and Harry Redknapp if you require confirmation - however Sky Sports are reporting that they are about to pip Spurs for a change.

As mentioned, Ryan Babel boarded a helicopter believed to be heading for Spurs Lodge earlier today, with a £9 million switch to the Lilywhites spoken about, but it has since emerged that the chopper is West Ham-bound.

Given the rumours that Liverpool have made an official approach for Carlton Cole, the obvious conclusion to draw is that a swap deal is in the offing, although whether Babel would be willing to join the club currently stuck at the bottom of the league.

The east Londoners would relish some success over Spurs having lost their last five clashes with them on the pitch, which is obviously a factor in the [110.0] odds available on them winning the London derby Head to Head league.

The best news for Irons fans today though, if it counts as news at all given David Sullivan's promise that he wouldn't be sold this summer, is that Scott Parker has confirmed to reporters that he doesn't expect to move before the deadline passes.

Ha, if anything it looks like West Ham will have done us a favour by taking Babel.
After the rumours of Huntelaar, Fabiano and others, why would we take a step down in quality and move for Babel?! That would be desperation on a Frazier Campbell scale....
