Robinho snubs chance to join Fenerbahce
Manchester City's unwanted record signing Robinho is confident of finding a new club before the end of the month, but has rejected the opportunity to join Turkish side Fenerbahce.
The Brazilian star, who had previously stated a desire to make his loan move to Santos permanent, is now planning on staying in Europe, with a switch to Serie A or La Liga the prospect that appeals to the 26-year-old the most.
He said: "With all due respect to Turkish football, I'm not going to play there at the moment. The only thing I'll say is that I'll carry on in Europe, in Italy or Spain.
"Fenerbahce were the only team who sent an official proposal but it's already decided that I'm not going. I've got talks going on but I can't reveal anything yet. A week is time to do a lot of things."
That comment implies that Robinho's departure may not be confirmed until August 31, a day shy of two years after the former Real Madrid man's shocking arrival on arguably the most memorable transfer deadline day ever.
Barcelona have been linked with the left-sided forward in the past though are unlikely to make such a significant purchase at such short notice, while Inter Milan and Juventus are arguably the only Italian teams who could afford him, and the latter can't offer Champions League football.
