Arsenal and Tottenham target too pricey?
Who would have thought that 34 minutes of international might end up costing Arsenal or Tottenham £2.5 million?
Bolton defender Gary Cahill made his international debut as a second-half substitute for Michael Dawson in last week's win over Bulgaria, and according to the Daily Mirror, that has triggered a clause in the Bolton defender's contract which immediately adds £2.5 million to his transfer fee.
And the Mirror story says that with a £15 million escape route written into his contract as well, it would mean that should either of the north London clubs decide to pursue their alleged interest in the defender, it could now cost them at least £17.5 million - surely out of the reach of both clubs?
Cahill may well earn his second cap against Switzerland tonight, but it's that first relatively brief appearance which looks like it has significantly upped the ante in terms of whether Cahill moves away from the Reebok in January.
Is he worth that sort of money? Where do you think he'd want to go? Let us know what you think below...

why do u think wenger aint bothered about english players as most of them are overated an over priced due to the fact tht good english players are rare to cme across, i mean cahil is a good defender an all but 17.5, we bought vermalaen for 10mil and hes younger and better, so if wenger evn offers any where near tht dellusional price tag of his then it will be down to the fact tht he is proven in this league and he is english

What terrible grammar from Luck!
I think we all need some proper (EPL) football to get our heads out of the window.

If Cahill is worth 17.5M what does that make Dawson worth as he is ahead of Cahill in the England pecking order?
