Northampton to produce one more upset

It perhaps sums up quite how badly Liverpool started this season that their Carling Cup conquerors Northampton Town have been the worst team in League Two since their shock success at Anfield last month, dropping into the relegation zone in the fourth tier.

But unlike their hosts in the fourth round this evening, Ipswich, the Cobblers at least have the excuse that they were performing poorly in the league before their cup run gained momentum, so the players are inevitably more concerned with progressing in the competition giving them the most joy.

By contrast, Ipswich were second in the Championship ahead of their third round victory away at Millwall, having just beaten Cardiff to seemingly confirm their promotion credentials. They've since fallen to 14th, suffering defeats in four of their last five matches.

The clincher for us though in predicting that another shock could be on the cards is that Ipswich entered their three previous cup clashes on the back of Championship triumphs, while Northampton have always gone into theirs on a downer, following a draw and two losses.

While Ian Sampson's men dispatched League One leaders Brighton in 90 minutes, their wins over Reading and Liverpool came on penalties, so Northampton to qualify at [3.95] is a safer punt than simply backing the visitors at [8.0].

The other appetising option is to lay Ipswich at [1.53], as they've needed extra time in two of the last three rounds, and the advantage of that bet is that you have the insurance of not having to worry about what happens if an additional period is required.

Disagree with our upset talk? The Tractor Boys are [2.42] to lead at half-time and full-time...
