Euro review - Bayern finally open with win
The return of the Bundesliga provided plenty of excitement, while things are shaping up nicely in France and Holland three weeks into the new campaigns. We take a look at the big results and how the betting is shaping up in each country...
Germany
Bayern Munich needed four matches to record their first victory last season and still took the title, so Bastian Schweinsteiger's last-minute winner for the [1.55] favourites against Wolfsburg won't have been greeted warmly by their rivals. The Bundesliga is judged by many to be as the most competitive major league in Europe and further evidence was provided by promoted duo Kaiserslautern and much-loved St Pauli triumphing 3-1 away at Koln and Freiburg. Champions League-bound Werder Bremen are bottom surprisingly after a 4-1 loss to Hoffenheim.
France
Normality returned to an extent on matchday three in Ligue 1 as Marseille, Lyon and Bordeaux all won for the first time this term against Lorient, Brest and PSG. Toulouse, 14th in 2009-10, opened a two-point lead at the top by beating pointless newcomers Arles, but are [34.0] to still be there come May. Ligue 2 champions Caen are second after being held at Montpellier, who are one of four teams tying for third on five points.
Holland
Early table-toppers PSV ([2.38] to win the title) cemented their best start in eight years with a 3-1 success against AZ, who are in unfamiliar territory in the relegation zone after collecting just two points from their opening three games. [2.26] Eredivisie favourites Ajax remain two points shy of their rivals after a 3-0 victory over Roda, while champions FC Twente ([8.2]) claimed their first win post-Steve McClaren, 3-0 away at Vitesse Arnhem.
