Michael Vaughan took encouragement from his return to form with the bat with a healthy 72 for Yorkshire on Wednesday.
The England captain needed some time at the crease after a disappointing World Cup campaign and, with the first Test against West Indies fast approaching, went about his task in a positive manner as he hit 11 elegant fours in a 123-ball innings against Hampshire.
Punters who have backed the Tykes in the LV County Championship winner's market (3.95) will be keeping a close eye on Betfair's match odds market for the clash at the Rose Bowl.
Vaughan went head-to-head with Stuart Clark and his old foe, Australian spin king, Shane Warne, before departing with the score on 134 after being run out by Younis Khan.
Vaughan said: "I felt in good nick today. The ball moved around a lot early on but I thought I played well and I am only sorry I wasn't able to go on."
Vaughan is keen to prove his detractors wrong after a poor showing with the bat in the Caribbean in which he managed just 209 runs at an average of 23.22 from his nine outings, with a top score of 79.
England coach Peter Moores has confirmed Vaughan would skipper England in at least the first Test against West Indies at Lord's and more form at the crease is likely to see the Manchester-born star feature in the upcoming top England run scorer market.
Vaughan can take heart from his first four-day match in 11 months for Division One table-toppers Yorkshire, who are unbeaten after their opening two games of the LV County Championship.
