Michael Vaughan looks set to miss England's opening Test of the summer against the West Indies after suffering a broken finger.
The captain's latest injury problem came on Thursday while playing for Yorkshire in their County Championship clash at Hampshire. The 32-year-old was struck by a delivery from Australian paceman Stuart Clark.
With the first Test at Lord's due to start on May 17, new coach Peter Moores is already having to deal with selection fears.
It's yet another blow for the Vaughan, who has not played a Test match since December 2005, with his likely absence expected to make an impact on punters. England are currently trading at 1.68 to win the first Test, with West Indies on offer at 8 while the draw can be backed at 3.5.
Yorkshire physio Scott McAllister told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "Results from the hospital show that he has suffered a fractured finger.
"It looks like he might be out for three to four weeks, but it's too early to say with absolute certainty."
McAllister added: "It's desperately bad luck for Michael after the succession of problems he's had to contend with, and we will be monitoring his progress over the next few days."
Moores and the selectors will also have to decide who will captain the side, with Andrew Strauss the likely replacement to lead the team.
