Michael Vaughan feels his England side missed a good chance of beating Australia and strengthening their chances of reaching the World Cup semi-finals.

The defending champions ran out seven-wicket winners against their old adversaries in Antigua, with Australia comfortably reaching 248-3 after England had made 247.

The result leaves England needing to win their last three Super 8 games to stand a chance of reaching the last four.
Vaughan admitted: "Kevin Pietersen's 100 was a fantastic knock, but the rest of us didn't play well enough around him for us to get to the 280 we needed.

"We're certainly making it difficult for ourselves - we need to win our last three games now to get into the semis."
The skipper, who only made five, added: "There aren't that many of us batsmen playing that well at the moment. Personally I'll keep fighting, and hopefully I'll get some runs against Bangladesh on Wednesday."

With games against Bangladesh, South Africa and West Indies to come, England are now trading at 1.11 to be eliminated at the Super 8 stage. Semi-final elimination can be backed at 6.

Meanwhile, England are firm favourites for victory in Wednesday's clash with Bangladesh. Vaughan's men are available at 1.26 with the opponents trading at 4.7.
