Trainer Michael Bell has Red Evie in good form for her eagerly-anticipated crack at the Queen Anne Stakes on the opening day of Royal Ascot's meeting on June 19.
Bell's filly was a revelation in 2006, progressing from winning an early season Yarmouth handicap off a mark of 77, to lifting Leopardstown's Group 1 Matron Stakes at the climax of a stunning seven-race unbeaten run in September.
Red Evie, who bagged another money-spinning Group 1 victory on her reappearance when winning Newbury's Lockinge Stakes, now faces the possibility of a mouth-watering clash with Aidan O'Brien's runaway 2006 2,000 Guineas hero, George Washington.
"She's in very good form and looks like being the only girl to take on the boys, but she did it well last time. Red Evie won at the meeting last year in a Listed race and she certainly likes the track, so we think she has a lot going for her," said Bell.
"It does look an interesting race. Obviously George Washington is in there and if he is the same horse as last year, then we all could be in trouble," he added.
Betfair's ante-post market for the 1m Group 1 showpiece is headed by George Washington (3.8), who, if he takes part, will be returning to the fray after a short-lived career at stud.
Red Evie (6) is fourth best behind Cesare (5.6) and Ramonti (5.8).
