Royal Ascot specialist Baron's Pit is set for another run at the meeting with trainer Ed Vaughan confirming the seven-year-old will run in the Wokingham on Saturday week.

The gelding won the Norfolk Stakes as a two-year-old in 2002 before returning to the track a year later to finish a creditable third in the Golden Jubilee Stakes behind Choisir and Airwave.

Off the course for a couple of years through injury, the grey returned to the track this season and has put in four solid displays to date.

Speaking on the stable website Vaughan said: "As the weights stand, he's got 9st 2lb. However, a few of those higher in the handicap will most probably drop out so he is likely to go up a little bit.

"Of course, it is very difficult in these big handicaps - you need a young and progressive horse. But on the pick of his best form, I would hope he'd be competitive."

The Wokingham market is currently headed by such a young and progressive horse in Zidane on 8.4 ahead of Hogmaneigh on 12.5. Next best are Intrepid Jack and Knot In Wood on 15 and Indian Trail on 16.5.

Baron's Pit can currently be backed at 65 for the June 23 contest.
