Is Gautam the man to lead the Indian resistance
Nine wickets stand between England and the number one ranking and they've got two days to get them. Andrew Hughes will be on hand to bring us all the news and the pick of the betting opportunities on what could be a memorable day at Edgbaston
WICKET Sreesanth c Pietersen b Bresnan 5
That's it, the game is over and England are the best team in the world! It has been as comprehensive a victory as you could wish for. Thanks for being with us, we'll be back at the Oval on Thursday to see if England can claim a 4-0 whitewash
15:00 India 235-9
Dogged resistance from Dhoni and Sreesanth. 40 minutes until tea, can they hold on till then? Probably not. England just waiting to be crowned at the moment. How good are this England team? Can they go on to dominate world cricket, or will theirs be a short-lived stay at the top? Get in touch at betfairliveblogger@hotmail.co.uk
WICKET Sharma lbw b Broad 0
Good efficient bowling at the tail enders from Broad and England are on the brink
WICKET Praveen c Bopara b Broad 40
Praveen's stand comes to an end with a big top edge off a Broad bouncer and he falls just short of what could have been the fastest ever Test fifty
14:15 India 165-7
Some refreshing belligerance from Praveen Kumar has given the Indian fans something to get excited about. He has been one of few Indian success stories this summer, certainly the only bowler who will emerge with any credit.
WICKET Mishra c Broad b Swann 22
A brave innings from Mishra comes to an end. He showed more fight than many of his more senior colleagues. Hope you listened to Michael Vaughan. His in-play prediction of a Day 4 afternoon finish is looking spot on and is now [1.21]
13:45 India 120-6
We're underway. England are 4 wickets away from standing at the top of the Test tree. For Indian fans, what can they salvage from the wreckage of this defeat? Getting to tea would be a miracle, I reckon. Have your say at betfairliveblogger@hotmail.co.uk
LUNCH India 116-6
A disastrous session for India that has sealed their fate in this series. Join me in 40 minutes to watch England finish the job.
12:55 India 105-6
Portugese Pirate has little sympathy for Tendulkar. 'This is Test cricket where rotating the strike is preferable rather than essential. No need to leave your crease at all during the delivery.' What do you think? Get in touch at betfairliveblogger@hotmail.co.uk
12:45 India 90-6
Looking away from this match, there are still the various series markets to look at. 4-0 is the favourite in the Correct Series Score market, but with the number one ranking secured, England may not be able to keep up this intensity. You can back 3-0 at [2.6] which would be my preference, or if you fancy a big Indian fightback, there is [6.4] on offer about a 3-1 series scoreline.
WICKET Tendulkar run out 40
That pretty much wraps it up. Tendulkar run out in the cruellest way, after Dhoni hits it straight back, Swann deflects it into the stumps and Sachin is out of his crease, backing up. The 100th 100 will have to wait.
WICKET Raina lbw b Swann 10
India's house continues to collapse. Looks like only Sachin will be left standing amongst the rubble. What do you think of the suggestion that Laxman should be the first of the old guard to be eased out? How should India go about it - drop them all at once or stagger their departures? Let me know at betfairliveblogger@hotmail.co.uk
12:15 India 64-4
Portugese Pirate has been in touch suggesting that it's time to look at Laxman's position in the team and asking why Virat Kohli hasn't been given more of a chance. Good points, both. Kohli is a fighter and capable of putting together a big innings and is surely next in line for a Test spot. And Laxman has to be the most vulnerable of the big three veterans.
12:10 India 64-4
As India hit the [1000.0] mark and the draw reaches [60.0] it's time to start the post-debacle debate. Is this a very poor Indian team or an all time great England team? Get in touch at betfairliveblogger@hotmail.co.uk
WICKET Laxman c Prior b Anderson 2
Anderson has all four this morning and Laxman, as expected, did not last too long, hanging his bat out and getting a limp edge. India heading downhill fast. When was the last time they were defeated as comprehensively as this? Have your say at betfairliveblogger@hotmail.co.uk
11:40 India 53-3
Tendulkar looks in determined mood and has just hit two fours off Anderson. He's a big favourite to finish as top Indian 2nd Inns batsman at [1.55] but the value has already gone there. VVS Laxman is more tempting at [4.0] but he really doesn't look comfortable out there
strong>11:25 India 41-3
Tendulkar is some way behind Dravid in the race to be India's Top Series Batsman but he often comes up with the big score in a losing cause and now that Dravid is out, if he does get that century here it will close the gap considerably. You can back him at [5.0] in that particular market
WICKET Dravid c Prior b Anderson 18
Anderson is looking unplayable at the moment and he has demolished the wall. Any realistic hope of India getting a draw has surely gone now. It's down to Sachin and VVS.
11:10 India 35-2
Here comes Sachin with a hell of a job to do. This would be about the right time to score that 100th century. Will he do it today Indian fans? Get in touch at betfairliveblogger@hotmail.co.uk
WICKET Gambhir c Swann b Anderson 14
Ah, that didn't go too well! First ball from Anderson is a beauty, moving away from Gambhir who follows it and gives a simple catch to second slip.
10:45 India 35-1
In the match odds market, the draw has come in a little from the [10.0] it touched when Sehwag was dismissed, to [8.6] and that is a little short. The Indians have it in them to save the game, but the evidence so far this summer does not suggest they are capable against this attack and in these conditions.
10:40 India 35-1
Looking at the Top India 2nd Inns Batsman market, I still think Gautam Gambhir is good value at [4.8] even though we recommended him at [6.2] yesterday. He will be acutely aware that he has barely contributed in this series so far and he looked in determined mood last night
10:35 India 35-1
Morning all. It's cloudy again in Birmingham today. The forecast mentions the possibility of a light shower around tea, but that's about it, so if India are going to save themselves, it will have to be without the assistance of the weather. Can they do it? They batted for 2 days in Napier a couple of years back, but this is a lot tougher. Have your say at betfairliveblogger@hotmail.co.uk
