India hope for Bermuda miracle

73686508.jpgIndia look set to exit the World Cup at the group stage after defeat to Sri Lanka left their qualification hopes hanging by a thread.

The 1983 winners were among the favourites to lift the trophy, but have lost two of their three games - the latest being a 69-run defeat to the Sri Lankans on Friday.

It means Rahul Dravid's men are now relying on Bermuda beating Bangladesh on Sunday in order for them to make the Super 8 stage.

The Indian skipper admitted: "I have played in three World Cup tournaments and this is definitely my worst.
"We had our fate in our own hands and could not live up to expectations."

After another low score, just 185 runs, Dravid found it hard to explain why India's strong batting line-up had disappointed.
He insisted: "Batting is our strength and there was nothing in the wicket to stop us from getting 255.

"It was gettable but we failed to put together a substantial partnership and kept losing wickets regularly. That put us under pressure. But they (Sri Lanka) played very well."

Betfair punters feel India are on their way home, with Bermuda underdogs for Sunday's match in Trinidad. Bermuda can be backed at 12.5 while Bangladesh are trading at 1.08.

Dravid's men are now available at 9.4 in Betfair's 'To Reach Super 8' market.
