With Mumbai smarting after defeat against Punjab and Kolkata keen to save face, who does Frank Gregan believe will prevail at Buffalo Park?
Team News
Kolkata will be looking to shake things up as they try to salvage some pride and get their second win on the board in order to get themselves off the foot of the table. Ajantha Mendis who was dropped for the game against Bangalore on Wednesday could be set for a recall probably replacing Agarkar who was only trusted with two overs but still managed to concede 23 runs. McCullum and Ganguly need to find some form as it looks likely that Chris Gayle will be heading back to the West Indies and will miss the game. Mumbai rely heavily on their veteran openers Sanath Jayasuriya and Sachin Tendulkar but despite their failings on Wednesday there are not likely to be any changes at the top of the order. Mumbai will be smarting from their defeat on Wednesday when they failed to chase down a small total against Punjab.
Venue, pitch and conditions
This is the first time that Buffalo Park in East London will be used during this tournament and the ground is one of the smallest in South Africa. It has played host to a number of one day internationals but only one test match between South Africa and Bangladesh in 2002. There are no problems forecast with the weather and with a good wicket and short boundaries the side batting first will be looking to post a high score.
Match Odds
Mumbai need a win to get themselves back on track whilst hapless Kolkata find themselves in a desperate situation and lacking in confidence. It is hard to look beyond Mumbai and if a match can be attained at [1.7] it should be snapped up. Kolkata may start as big as [2.4] and that may prove to be value but on current form it is difficult to recommend them.
Featured Market
A small ground and two teams packed with explosive hitters should be a recipe for a boundary feast. Any odds in the region of [2.7] for 14 or over in the Total Sixes market should be taken.
