It's last-chance saloon for the Bangalore Royal Challengers who need to win all their remaining matches in order to make the last four. And given that they're now playing the Chennai Superkings next, it may well be game over sooner rather than later, says Andrew Hughes.
Team News
I wouldn't expect too many changes to the Chennai line-up, unless they are prepared to give last year's hero Manpreet Gony one more chance as they search for an opening bowling partner for Albie Morkel. With Jesse Ryder and Ross Taylor finally hitting some form, Bangalore will probably be unchanged, so Roelof Van Der Merwe will continue to sit out.
Conditions
The last time we were in Durban, the pitches had a green tinge to them but proved perfectly conducive to batting. Rajasthan managed to rack up 211 but a par score for a day match has been in the high 160s.
Match Odds
Chennai's winning streak has seen them surge through the pack to the brink of semi-final qualification. Bangalore, on the other hand, despite their improvement under Anil Kumble's captaincy, need to win all of their remaining games to reach the last four. Their victory over the woeful Knight Riders has kept them in the tournament but this will be a lot tougher. Chennai have the most potent batting line up in the IPL and though their bowling may not be the most economical, they take plenty of wickets. By contrast Bangalore's top order batting has been generally poor. Throw in some iffy fielding and you can see why the Royal Challengers are [2.42] to win this with Chennai on [1.58]
Top Batsman
For Chennai, Matthew Hayden is likely to be as short as [3.3] with Suresh Raina probably around the [4.5] mark. It is hard to look beyond those two, particularly now that captain Mahendra Dhoni has dropped himself down the order. For Bangalore, Taylor's half century last time was long overdue but he is not one to rely on and it could be worth taking a chance on Virat Kohli at around [9.0]
Featured Market
Bangalore have shown a tendency to fling the bat around early on of late and it would be worth backing them to have the highest six over score at [2.1] or higher.
Andrew Hughes says Back Bangalore for highest six over total @ [2.1] or better
