73967965.jpgPeter Moores, England's newly-appointed coach, has spoken of the challenges facing him and the side as well as confirming he will sit down with Michael Vaughan before making any decision on the captain's Test and One-Day role.

Moores is charged with the task of elevating England to the very top level of international cricket following a disappointing World Cup in which the Three Lions bowed out at the Super 8 stage under Duncan Fletcher's stewardship.

Moores accepts it will be difficult to reverse the side's fortunes but insists he is up for the challenge.

"It's fantastic. I have got a few decisions to make but it is a very exciting challenge. I look at it as a challenge," said Moores.

"England have just got back [from the World Cup] and I have a chance to speak to them and find out what lessons have been learnt."

Moores confirmed that Vaughan will skipper England in the first Test against West Indies, starting on May 17, but is keen to address the one-day role with him after revealing his own preference for one captain for both forms of the game.

"You will have to wait and see. I will talk to Michael first and see how he wants to go forward," added Moores.

"Michael is going to be captain in the first Test and his reputation goes without saying. He will have some interesting views on what happened this winter. I am going to see what Michael's view is. In an ideal world it is nice to have one captain."

Punters are sure to have noted Bennett King's resignation as West Indies coach following the team's failure in the World Cup as well as captain Brian Lara's decision to retire from all international cricket. Markets for the series are sure to reflect this when they open up nearer the time.
