England chairman of selectors David Graveney has played down talk of Marcus Trescothick returning to the side for the Tests against India.
Trescothick missed the winter after being struck down by a stress-related illness but he is now back in fine form for Somerset and that has kicked off reports he could return once the series against the West Indies is out of the way.
Andrew Straus is also out of form but Graveney is refusing to say whether Trescothick will return.
"There is no point running before you can walk," Graveney told BBC Sport. "He is up there as one of the most attacking one-day players in the world.
"But we are just monitoring the situation at the moment - I refuse to keep pestering him with the same question.
"I'm talking to the coaching staff, him from time to time about subjects other than cricket, and we've left it in a situation where he will contact us when he's ready.
"It's great he's back playing and doing as well as he has been, let's see what happens now."
England are trading at 2.2 to win the series against India, who are available at 3.45, the exact same price as the draw.
