England know they need a big improvement on their performance in the first meeting between the sides but betting punters are likely to be sceptical about the tourists chances.
Paul Collingwood's men were soundly beaten by 119 runs in the opening clash in Dambulla and even the biggest England supporter would struggle to stake a case for having a bet on them defeating Sri Lanka in the second ODI.
Dambulla is the venue again for the latest game of the five-match series, with the odds certain to favour the home team going 2-0 up.
England have not won a one-day international in Sri Lanka since 1982 and betting customers should take note that the tourists have failed to score more than 150 in each of the three matches they have played at the venue.
Another footnote for those eyeing a bet on Sri Lanka, is that the home side have won 13 of their 21 ODIs in Dambulla, including two victories over India in 2005.
With middle-order stars Kevin Pietersen and Collingwood seemingly out of touch, odds checkers will be aware that an good opening partnership could be key to England's chances of success.
Alastair Cook topped scored with 46 in the first match and the Essex ace will prove to be a popular bet in the 'Top England Bastman' betting market.
Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene scored 66 off 101 balls in the first match and he and Sanath Jayasuriya look like the dangermen for England and those who bet on the tourists.
Record-breaking bowler Muttiah Muralitharan was missing for the first game and betting punters should be aware that the spin-ace is likely to be sidelined again for the second ODI due to a biceps injury.
