England's recent Commonwealth Bank series success in Australia has lifted expectations ahead of the showpiece one-day event in the Caribbean.

With Vaughan seemingly getting back to full fitness and Kevin Pietersen and James Anderson also available again after injury, the 'Barmy Army' are hopeful of a good run in the West Indies.

The captain though admits the tournament is wide open, but says the mood in the camp is good going into the ninth cricket World Cup.
Vaughan insisted: "From where we were six weeks ago, the tournament's dark horses are us. The World Cup is wide open for one of the top eight teams to go on and win it.

"Since 1992 we haven't performed in a World Cup. That is why this is a great opportunity and a real special moment."
The Yorkshire ace added: "You don't get many times in your career to do something special. We did it in 2005 with the Ashes.
"This group of players really feel as if they have something to prove in the one-day game and that is what we are setting out to do.
"If we get our momentum right and our game right there is no reason we can't go a long way in the tournament."
England, who begin their campaign against New Zealand on March 16, are currently trading at 11 to lift the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Vaughan can be backed at 8.4 to be England's top batsman in the Caribbean, a market headed by Kevin Pietersen (3.4). Vaughan is available at 110 to tournament's leading runscorer.
