The 26-year-old is Pakistan's only specialist spin bowler and has a lot of pressure on his shoulders going into the Caribbean showpiece.

Kaneria has only played 16 one-day internationals and missed the recent series in South Africa, but could prove crucial to his country's hopes.

Pakistan legend Qadir insisted: "The pitches will definitely help the spinners," said Qadir, who took 132 one-day wickets for Pakistan.

"No matter what the pitches do, the quality spinners will shine through."
He added: "Pakistan has gone into the World Cup without a plan. If they wanted Kaneria he should have played in the South Africa one-dayers."

Kaneria can be backed at 5 to finish the tournament as Pakistan's leading wicket taker, while the Essex bowler is trading at 70 to finish as the World Cup's top wicket taker.

Meanwhile, Pakistan are available at 17 to lift the trophy having traded as low as 5.2.
